HOST Partnership Provides Services on Foothill Transit Lines

Last week, we partnered with other officers from the Homeless Outreach Services Team (HOST), San Gabriel Valley/Pomona Valley Region, to conduct homeless outreach operations along Foothill Transit bus lines between the cities of Irwindale, Azusa, West Covina, La Verne and Pomona.

Participating agencies included the Irwindale Police Department, the Azusa Police Department, the West Covina Police Department, the La Verne Police Department, and the Pomona Police Department.

The objective was to make contact with homeless individuals at the bus stops, transit centers, and on the busses to offer referrals to available services.

During the two eight-hour operations, 76 homeless persons were contacted along Foothill Transit bus routes, 31 of which accepted services.

The Irwindale Police Department is a proud partner in the regional HOST program along our partner agencies. HOST outreach is funded by Los Angeles County Measure H which was passed by voters in March 2017.

No enforcement action is taken during any HOST operation.
