On Saturday, June 26, 2021, at about 9:30 pm last night, IPD officers were called to assist Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies with a fatal traffic collision investigation in the city of Duarte.

While directing traffic outside his police vehicle  at a street closure on westbound Huntington Drive at Encanto Parkway related to the accident, one of our officers was struck by a vehicle going west on Huntington Drive.

The driver disregarded the traffic cones, flares and emergency lights and continued driving into the collision investigation scene after hitting the officer. The driver was eventually stopped after being contacted by deputies at the scene.

Our officer was treated at the scene by fire department paramedics. He received moderate injuries and did not require hospitalization.

This traffic collision is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.  Please contact the Sheriff's Department for more information on this incident.

The 25-year-old male officer is a two-year veteran of the Irwindale Police Department.
