MEDIA RELEASE ~ Deceased Adult Male Found on San Gabriel River Bank


Irwindale, CA:  On Friday, October 1, 2021, at about 8:04 P.M., officers from the Irwindale Police Department responded to the report of a deceased person on the bank of the San Gabriel River near the Lower Azusa Road overpass in the city of Irwindale.  

Officers responded to the area and, with the assistance of officers from the Arcadia Police Department, located a deceased male adult in a homeless camp on the upper portion of the riverbed’s east bank, directly under the Lower Azusa Road Bridge.  It appeared that the male had been deceased at the location for a significant, but still undetermined, length of time.  

Detectives from the Irwindale Police Department responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. The cause of death remains under investigation.  

The name of the deceased male is not being released at this time, pending his identification and the notification of his next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
