CITY COUNCIL INTRODUCES JULIAN A. MIRANDA AS CITY MANAGER
(Irwindale, CA, February 28, 2022 revised) – At last night’s public meeting, City Council welcomed Irwindale’s newest City Manager, Julian A. Miranda. Community members showed their overwhelming support for the well-known and respected former city council member.
Miranda makes history as Irwindale’s second resident to lead the large industrial yet small family oriented community. Previously he enjoyed a 24-year career in education as a teacher for the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Prior to embarking his career in education, he worked for the City’s recreation department for seven years. Most notably, Julian was elected to the Irwindale City Council in 1992, 2003, and finally 2011, serving four-one year terms as Mayor. He has taken part in multiple strategic plans and considerable development projects for the City.
“I am excited to work in tandem with the City Council, Commissioners, city staff, and residents in furthering the progress and advancing the positive direction of our community as City Manager,” said Miranda. “It is an honor to serve my community.”
Miranda will be taking over public-facing duties working collaboratively with council, staff and residents in support of the city’s mission and goals while maintaining a fiscally sound budget.
Mayor Larry Burrola said “We are really fortunate to have found a qualified city manager who is home grown with intimate knowledge of what best serves our community. I am confident he knows just what a small premiere city like ours needs.”
He and his wife of 24 years, Debbie Miranda along with their two sons Christian and Julian are actively involved in the community, volunteering their support and hard work through the Joseph Pepe Miranda Scholarship Foundation.
