MEDIA RELEASE ~ IPD Welcomes Christopher P. Hofford as our New Chief of Police

Irwindale, CA: The city of Irwindale and the Irwindale Police Department are pleased to welcome our new Chief of Police, Christopher P. Hofford.  Chief Hofford joins the police department effective today, replacing outgoing Interim Police Chief Rob Castro.

Chief Hofford comes to the city of Irwindale with 35 plus years of law enforcement service in Los Angeles County, all of it here in the San Gabriel Valley. During his tenured career, Chief Hofford has held ranks from part-time police cadet all the way to Chief of Police. 

Chief Hofford holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Arkansas State University and is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy (FBINA), as well as the California Police Chiefs’ Association Executive Leadership Institute and the California Police Chiefs’ Association Leadership Development Program.  

Chief Hofford in the proud father of three young adult daughters and is engaged to marry his fiancée Patty later this year.  He enjoys biking and off-roading in his spare time.

Chief Hofford states is excited to join the Irwindale Police Department and looks forward to serving the members of the police department and the Irwindale Community.
