Over the past several years, many of our police officers and employees have completed, or are in the process of completing, advanced college degree programs at various universities. These degree programs have resulted in employees who have obtained Associates, Bachelors and Masters degrees in various fields of study.
On Thursday, January 21st, some of these employees were recognized in a special graduation ceremony held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at the Biscailuz Training Center in East Los Angeles. Joined by Irwindale Police Chief Anthony Miranda and Captain Ty Henshaw, Sergeant George Zendejas, Sergeant Rudy Gatto, Detective Jose Vargas, Detective Michael Arias and Officer Jesus Bravo received diplomas from Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell and college dignitaries for completing college degree programs that are affiliated with LASD University. These officers were joined by friends and family as they took part in the ceremony along with numerous other local law enforcement professionals.
These officers are representative of all of the Irwindale employees who have enhanced their professionalism through advanced education. Neslon Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" and we are truly proud of all of the Irwindale Police Department employees who have made a commitment to their community and to the law enforcement profession by pursuing advanced education degrees.
Congratulations to all!
