WASTE HAULING/TRASH SERVICES

The City of Irwindale has an exclusive franchise agreement with Athens Services to provide mixed waste collection and organic recycling services as wells as other programs to its residents and business community.  The City is committed to reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and providing high quality trash and recycling services. 

Residential Customers

To set up trash services or replace your broken lids or trash receptacles, residents are required to contact the City of Irwindale’s Public Services Department Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at (626) 430-2231.  

The City of Irwindale  and Athens Services offer two bulky item pick up/clean-up campaigns per year for its residential community.  These clean ups are offered in Fall and in Spring.  Acceptable items include: mattresses, sofas, beds, refrigerators, washers, dryers, tree branches in bundles, leaves in bags, and electronic waste.  Items that will not be accepted include:  household hazardous waste, asphalt/concrete, tires or any heavy construction items.  Please contact  Public Services at (626) 430-2231 for more information on the City’s Bulky Item/Clean-up Campaigns.

Business Community

Businesses located in the City of Irwindale and those contractors conducting business in the City are required to contact Athens Services directly to set up trash collection and organics recycling services. Please contact Athens Services at (888) 336-6100 Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to set up service.

RECYCLING/ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Why Recycle?  Recycling saves money, energy, space, and natural resources.  It’s economical, ecological, easy, and effective.  
Many individuals do not know what can be recycled or where to recycle specific items.  The resources section below will assists residents and businesses with additional information outlining what should be recycled and where you can recycle these items.  Please contact the Public Works Services Department for more information on recycling.
