Detective Bureau

Duties

The Detective Bureau handles a wide variety of investigations ranging from burglaries, thefts, and financial crimes to elder abuse cases, assaults, robberies, and homicides.

Detectives are experienced officers who receive additional training in investigative and interview techniques. They spend many hours following up on leads, solving crimes and prosecuting offenders. The Detectives also make themselves available around the clock in order to provide expertise and take over major investigations.

The Detective Bureau is comprised of Detectives who are assigned to general case investigations, as well as Detectives who are assigned as Task Force Officers (TFOs). In addition, the Detective Bureau oversees the Property Evidence Room. A Detective Sergeant supervises the Bureau.

The Detective Bureau provides Investigators to federal and countywide task forces, including multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency task forces that investigate narcotic related crimes, as well as automobile and cargo theft investigations.
